Koch Industries confirmed Friday morning that 79-year-old David Koch, brother to 83-year-old Charles Koch, has died.
The Koch family legacy includes the second-largest company in the US, Koch Industries, along with numerous political and policy institutions and billions of dollars spent toward advocacy, with an emphasis on conservative and libertarian policies including free trade and small government.

Billionaire industrialist and Republican megadonor David Koch died Friday at the age of 79.
With a net worth of around $50.5 billion, Koch donated over $1.3 billion to charity, including gifts to prominent New York City institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

David Koch is dead at 79, his family announced August 23rd.
The Koch brothers were two of the richest men in the world, with net worths of $58.7 billion each, according to Bloomberg .
Their fortunes came from their 42% stakes in the Koch family business: Koch Industries. Some of the company's best-known products include Dixie cups and Quilted Northern toilet paper. Koch Industries also refines crude oil and produces fertilizer.
Charles is currently the company's president and CEO, while David served as director emeritus before his death, according to Forbes .
