Troy murder trial opens Monday

TROY - It was a double-homicide case that authorities considered a sure-thing in 2016 for securing the convictions of the four men accused of killing two roommates.
But after three rounds of botched indictments in which former District Attorney Joel E. Abelove's office failed to provide corroborating evidence to confirm accomplice testimony heard by three different grand juries. Now, just one defendant goes on trial Monday morning in Rensselaer State Supreme Court for only one of the two homicides that occurred 31 months ago.
