Gillibrand, Schumer urge FEMA to help upstate counties after severe storms

New York's senators urged the Federal Emergency Management Agency on Saturday to promptly provide funds to cover damages to 18 counties across upstate after severe storms on Oct. 31.
Saratoga, Warren and Montgomery were among the 18 counties U.S. Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand requested assistance for. The senators said FEMA will begin assessments of the damage next week. FEMA generally covers 75 percent of the eligible costs for permanent and emergency work.
