Democrats demand to see Mueller report as battle shifts

27 days ago   |   By National Post

WASHINGTON - Attorney General William Barr has made his determination about special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. Now Democrats want to make their own.
The delivery Sunday of Barr's summary to Congress about Mueller's conclusions has opened a new chapter in the battle over the two-year investigation that is likely to consume Capitol Hill in the coming weeks and months. Democratic lawmakers are demanding a full look at Mueller's findings and dismissing Barr's summary as incomplete, at best, and biased, at worst.
They have seized on a line in the summary that says Mueller's report...

MINNEAPOLIS - Attorney General William Barr said special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation found President Donald Trump's associates did not conspire with Russia during the 2016 campaign.
Mueller's final report was delivered Friday to Barr.
Barr then summarized the findings in a letter to lawmakers Sunday afternoon. He says the investigation “did not find that the Trump Campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia to influence the 2016 election.”

Yes, Trump Obstructed Justice. And William Barr Is Helping Him Cover It Up

28 days ago   |   By The New Republic

In a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee leaders on Sunday , Attorney General William Barr revealed that he would not charge President Trump with obstruction of justice over his efforts to thwart the investigation into whether his campaign conspired with Russia to swing the 2016 election. In order to do so, Barr performed a remarkable gimmick that allowed him to not only break promises he made during his confirmation process, but also gloss over the crimes that Trump is suspected of committing.
It is widely believed that Barr had already categorically ruled out charging a president...

Week 96: Trump Might Not Be Guilty, But Neither Is the Press

The president is not a crook. That's the six-word précis of Attorney General William P. Barr's four-page summary of the still- to-be-paginated report by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III of his 674-day investigation into Russian government efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. Barr's findings, delivered to Congress on Sunday, lanced the Russia pustule that began festering during the Trump campaign and carbuncled the first two years of his presidency. Trump walked away victorious if bloodied from the announcement, hailing the Barr letter, in a classic bit of...

Attorney General William Barr's conclusion that Trump did not obstruct justice in the Russia probe is taking heat as Democrats accuse him of bias

28 days ago   |   By Business Insider

Attorney General William Barr determined in his summary on Sunday that President Donald Trump did not obstruct justice in the FBI's Russia investigation.
Barr's conclusion came after the special counsel Robert Mueller conducted a "thorough factual investigation" into the question but "did not draw a conclusion - one way or the other - as to whether the examined conduct constituted obstruction."
According to Barr's summary of Mueller's final report, the special counsel has not concluded that the President committed a crime, but the report also "does not exonerate him.'"
Barr and Deputy...
