Boston-area COVID wastewater data drops to lowest level in 4 months, Massachusetts reports 8,950 new cases

The closely monitored Boston-area COVID wastewater data has plunged to its lowest level since the spring, an encouraging sign amid the BA.5 variant as state health officials on Thursday reported 8,950 virus cases from the last week.
The north-of-Boston daily average for COVID sewage samples has now dropped to 451 copies per milliliter, which is the lowest virus count in the wastewater since April 10. The data has gone down 44% during the last month.
