Boston participatory budgeting headed for vote in next few weeks

Whatever form Boston's new “participatory budgeting” program takes, it appears it has to be worked out in around the next two weeks.
The council's planning a Feb. 8 vote, Government Operations Chair Ricardo Arroyo told his fellow members in a Monday hearing, with a working session to hammer out amendments the day before.
That's because the creation of the office comes procedurally through what's called a “60-day order” from the mayor, meaning it just goes into effect as is two months after the administration files it unless the council passes it in a different form.
