Acton-Boxboro girls roll to Div. 1 state tennis title

SHREWSBURY - In a match that could have gone either way at moments, Acton-Boxboro took control to win its second straight state title.
The Colonials won both doubles as well as first and third singles to take down undefeated Algonquin, 4-1, in the Division 1 state final at St. John's of Shrewsbury Wednesday.
“After losing that many starters, it is incredible ,” said coach Mike Gardner about defending their title after graduating five seniors a season ago.

Weston girls win Div. 3 state tennis title

SHREWSBURY - It took a little patience, but Weston has won another state title.
With easy sweeps to go ahead 3-0, Weston held on to defeat Lee, 3-2, and win the Division 3 girls tennis state final Wednesday.
“It was very exciting,” said Wildcats coach Dyanne Sainato, whose team finished 24-0. “Delayed gratification is fine with us. We are good with that. We have waited a long time to get this and we really wanted this.”
