Massachusetts legislators help pass federal bill to lower prescription drug prices

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed sweeping legislation that would lower prescription drug prices by allowing the federal government to negotiate the costs of the most expensive medications, including insulin.
The Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act, also known as H.R. 3, would give the federal Department of Health and Human Services - which oversees Medicare - the power to negotiate the costs of up to 250 of the priciest drugs. It would also create a $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket prescription costs for Medicare beneficiaries.
