New coronavirus cases in Massachusetts surpassed 1,000 for the second day in a row, public health officials reported on Sunday, continuing an upward trend in infections that's on par with numbers seen at the height of the pandemic in May.
The Department of Public Health reported 1,097 new cases of the coronavirus on Sunday, just 31 cases behind Saturday's numbers, which saw the highest daily caseload since mid-May. Prior to this weekend, the state had not seen the number of new infections spike above 1,000 since May 24, according to state data. It comes as cases have increased steadily in...
