Northeastern beats BC 4-2 for 2nd straight Beanpot title

BOSTON - When Eric Williams and the rest of Northeastern's senior class first arrived on campus, winning the Beanpot once - just once - was a goal they struggled to cling to.
The Huskies had not claimed Boston's college hockey bragging rights since 1988, a slump that ended last year.
“Everyone in that locker room was so eager to be the first team to break that streak. We got that feeling and we wanted to experience it again this year,” Williams said, “and every year after.”

Northeastern hold off BC to repeat as Beanpot champions

Exactly 39 years after its first Beanpot championship in 1980, Northeastern celebrated its sixth title and first repeat since 1984-85. The Huskies survived a furious rally by Boston College to win, 4-2, Monday night at the Garden.
In a bit of deja vu, Northeastern was facing BC at the latest juncture of a season since 1980 when it defeated the Eagles, 5-4, in overtime to win its first Beanpot on the strength of Wayne Turner's goal.
