MINNEAPOLIS - Hundreds attended a vigil Monday night at the place where 20-year-old Daunte Wright died.
A replica of the statue that held space at George Floyd Square now sits in Brooklyn Center. It has become a place of mourning for everyone impacted by Wright's shooting death on Sunday afternoon during a traffic stop with Brooklyn Center police.
People who knew Wright, and many who did not, packed a four-block area around the site for a vigil to remember the young father - including his mother, Katie Wright.

Flash-bangs and teargas were used to disperse the crowd gathered outside the Brooklyn Center, Minnesota police department, in violation of the curfew declared to stop the riots over the death of Daunte Wright.
An hour and 45 minutes after the 7 pm curfew went into effect, police issued a final “unlawful assembly” warning and deployed crowd control weapons. Some of the activists outside - carrying shields and umbrellas and wearing helmets - responded by throwing fireworks and smothering gas canisters with traffic cones.

MINNEAPOLIS - Hundreds of protesters gathered outside of the Brooklyn Center Police Department Monday night, a day after one of the city's officers shot and killed 20-year-old Daunte Wright during a traffic stop.
A curfew took effect at 7 p.m. in Hennepin County, as well as Anoka, Dakota and Ramsey counties. Protesters were undeterred as they chanted outside of the department, which was fenced off. In addition to Brooklyn Center police officers, state troopers and members of the Minnesota National Guard were stationed outside of the police department.
