Judicial vacancies trigger suspension of trials in some parts of New Jersey

New Jersey's judicial vacancy problem is now a crisis. Civil trials including those for divorce, labor discrimination, medical malpractice and personal injury will not be conducted in two regions known as vicinages due to the high number of empty seats, Chief Justice Stuart Rabner said Tuesday in a statement. Trials falling under the Civil Division and matrimonial categories in vicinages 13 and 15 will be suspended with limited exceptions beginning Feb. 21.
