Interruptions and Insults: All About the Very Uncivil Tone of the First Presidential Debate

28 days ago   |   By Time

The first Presidential debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden may be better remembered for its antagonistic tone, and the din of the candidates talking over each other, than any policy discussion.
The candidates regularly attacked each other's character, as Trump repeatedly interrupted and heckled Biden, who responded by calling the President a “clown” and telling him to “shut up.” Moderator Chris Wallace often failed to get the discussion back on track.
The debate was also marked by Trump refusing to disavow white supremacist groups and other right-wing...

For moderator Chris Wallace, debate was runaway train

28 days ago   |   By My Sanantonio

NEW YORK - For much of the opening presidential debate, moderator Chris Wallace looked like a man trying to stop a runaway train with his bare hands.
The contest between President Donald Trump and Vice President Joe Biden was chaotic from start to finish. With interruptions and interjections, Trump tried to throw his Democratic opponent off stride. Pleas, increasingly frustrated and loud, were the only tools Wallace had at his disposal to try to maintain control.
“Please let him speak, Mr. President,” Wallace tried more than once. The Fox News host pointed out he was the moderator, that he...

Trump Repeatedly Attacked Mail-In Voting During the Debate. There's No Evidence Behind His Claim

28 days ago   |   By Time

The chaotic inaugural presidential debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden culminated in one of the most contentious exchanges of the night, with Trump doubling down on his intent to sow doubt in the integrity of the election system.
After Biden committed to accepting the results of the election - regardless of the outcome - and stressed the security of mail-in ballots, Trump insisted, without any evidence, that “this is going to be a fraud like you've never seen.”
“These ballots are going to be all over,” he said. “Its a fraud and it's a shame.”
Trump...
