Belmont's Ellie Shea wins Northeast Regional race in the Bronx

Ellie Shea has taken a liking to fabled Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
After a sixth-place finish last year, the Belmont talent ran away from a loaded field Saturday at the Champs Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships.
Shea ran to a decisive win in 17 minutes, 10.7 seconds over the 3.1-mile course, finishing well ahead of runner-up Karrilynn Baloga of New Windsor, N.Y., who finished in 17:24.9. Newton's Meg Madison, who competes for The Winsor School, nailed down sixth place in 18:17.2.
