Column: Waukegan and its soon-to-open casino missing out on Super Bowl betting revenue

Waukegan officials must be as disheartened as a gambler on a bad-luck streak. The reason: The Temporary won't be open for the biggest betting day of the year, Super Bowl Sunday.
Executives of the American Place casino may feel the same as Illinoisans are expected to bet more than $86 million on the Big Game, with the seven sportsbooks currently operating across the state. The early betting line has the Philadelphia Eagles favored slightly in Super Bowl LVII over the Kansas City Chiefs.
