Schools in districts at high risk of coronavirus to welcome 8,600 special education students back to classrooms

Five school districts at high risk for the coronavirus are poised to welcome up to 8,600 special education students for in-person instruction this fall, concerning teachers and advocates as cases continue to rise.
Districts in 46 communities were thrust into turmoil this week after Gov. Charlie Baker's administration released a new “stoplight” map rating the coronavirus risk level of cities and towns on a red to green spectrum. Communities in red and yellow - considered higher risk - received guidance against reopening for in-person instruction.
