As Cam Newton tried to flush out one of the ugliest performances of his career, the Patriots quarterback faced a reality check.
Newton was benched and replaced by backup Jarrett Stidham in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 33-6 loss to the 49ers, where he threw for just 98 yards and three interceptions.
