Durant's winning kick gives Lynn Classical city bragging rights

LYNN - Fittingly enough in a game that featured a whopping 23 penalties, it was the final flag on the final play of the game that proved pivotal in Lynn Classical's dramatic 17-14 double OT win against cross town rival Lynn English in the 107th Thanksgiving showdown.
Tied at 14 and staring at a fourth and goal from the one in the second OT, the Rams (5-6) were set to try to plow the ball in- likely behind dynamic tailback Marquese Avery - until a penalty set the Rams back to the 6.
“We were thinking let's go for it, but then there was a false start so we decided to kick it,” said Classical coach Brian Vaughan.
Enter senior Kyle Durant, who had last attempted a kick in his sophomore season.
“Even before we got the penalty I was telling the coach to let me kick this and that I got this,” said Durant. “I was ready for the moment.”
Indeed. The senior coaxed the wobbly kick from 23 yards out over the crossbar to ignite the large contingent of Green and Gold at a sun splashed Manning...
