Red Sox bullpen blows six-run lead in 12-8 loss to Orioles

Just when it seemed like the Red Sox had gotten over the hump and their offense was going to carry them, the pesky bullpen blew another one.
The bullpen was handed a six-run lead into the seventh inning against the lowly Orioles but couldn't hold it as the O's bounded back with a 12-8 win at Fenway Park.
Until Friday night, the Sox had gone three weeks without losing a game because of a blown save.

1. It wasn't just the bullpen at fault
The Sox have been playing great defense of late, but with two outs, a man on second and a one-run lead in the eighth inning, Rafael Devers made a critical mistake.
Facing Matt Strahm, Orioles third baseman Ramon Urias hit a dribbler to third base that forced Devers to attempt a barehanded play on the run. With Rougned Odor speeding around third behind him, Devers could've pocketed the ball and played to live another day. But he fielded it cleanly and attempted a throw to first base.
